AEK honors the Final-4 of 1966

On April 1968, AEK’s Athens winning of the “European Cup Winners Cup” was the cause that grew its reputation worldwide.

On March 30 and on the 1st of April, 1966, AEK became the first Greek team who reached the final stage in the 1st “Final Four European Champions Cup”.

The event was held in “Palazzeto Lido Sport”, in Milan and in the “Palazzo dello Sport” of Bologna, where AEK finished in 4th place.

The board of AEK Athens decided to commemorate the event and reward the players, to mark the 50th anniversary of the Final-4. The actions beginning on Wednesday (16/03) with testimonials, videos and other surprises for the fans. On Saturday (26/03) the veteran players will be honoured, in the game against Kolossos Rhodes.

The AEK of players were Amerikanos, Trontzos , Zoupas, Moschos, Vassiliadis, Larentzakis, Nikitopoulos, Tsavas, Christeas, Economou, Dermanoutsos, Theodoropoulos. Coach was Missas Pantazopoulos.
