The president of AEK Athens, Alexis Alexiou, told in aekbc.gr about the participation of AEK at the Eurocup via wild card:

“Today is a very important day for us and our ”Queen” because the team returns to Europe after eight years. Last summer, we had in mind the comeback of the team in Europe, in spite of all the circumstances to build a decent team and competitive.

This desire became a reality after coordinated movements of Mr. Angelopoulos and administration. However, all the people saw that AEK deserved this participation and racing. AEK is organized at all levels. For that reason, we sent the full documentation about our plans and future projects of AEK that evaluated by the experts for the Euroleague.

We are still in the beginning of our vision. I hope that tonight’s news dampened somehow the pain of the fans of AEK in these difficult times of the country.
